As a part of the Dishwasher Reviews series, We invited Ana Kospi (Ex-Applicance Magazine Editor) to review the latest  45cm wide SF25T552GB from Siemens.

SF25T552GB is a all stainless steel dishwasher with push button fascia controls for small kitchens or single households. The baskets have a silver-coated surface that ensures gentle dish washing. A height-adjustable rackmatic upper basket can be pulled out all the way, increasing the variability of the loading and is easy to adjust even when fully loaded. The triple ‘A’ energy rated, freestanding narrow dishwasher has 9 place settings and 5 programmes including pre-rinse, 30 minute quick wash at 45ºC, economy at 50ºC, auto normal at the range of 55ºC-65ºC, and intensive at 70ºC.

This Siemens Dishwasher is equipped with digital sensing technology, hi-precision temperature sensor, hydroFill sensor, hydroDry for hygienic drying and LED salt and rinse aid indicators. Special hydroSensor saves an extra 4 litres of water per wash and up to 25 minutes on the programme time. Other features of the narrow dishwasher include up to 19 hours start delay, LED program status and time remaining indication, electronic salt regeneration sensor, 2 foldable plate racks in lower basket, special knife rack, cutlery basket and concealed heating element. Thanks to the large spay head, you can wash fridge and oven shelves. 5 spray levels with straight spray arms, easy to remove 4 part filter system. To narrow down any potential safety issues, this dishwasher is equipped with anti-leak sensor, hydroSafe ultimate leak protection system, servo lock for effortless closing of counter balanced door. Noise level is limited to 52dB. The price is £470. As an alternative you may consider the stainless steel SF25T054GB narrow dishwasher  with stainless steel bar handle and push button top controls.

 Its currently sold in UK for £540.

 Today we closely look at Whirpool dishwasher, the no-nonsense dishwasher brand.

Whirlpool Dishwasher was  rated in May 2007 Consumer Reports as one of the most reliable and least repair prone brands. Although Whirlpool is cheaper than some of it’s counterparts, It has decent features. Recently though there are increasing number of complaints against the brand and product in general, which has kept many buyers at bay. People are bit skeptical to buy whirpool dishwashers during the last couple of years.

Unlike most dishwashers that are covered with an exposed piece of sound insulation, the LGs have an outer shell which covers the insulation. This made for a tight fit, width-wise (and required some sanding) and that’s also responsible for the low noise. Check the dimensions of your opening.

Rack arrangement is dependent on the kinds of dishes and glassware the consumer puts into the machine. Our plates fit well, as do our glasses. The tines are movable in the bottom rack to leave a completely flat surface, but we have never used that feature.

The cycles are LONG — even the quickwash is an hour and a half! This is a result of the water eficiency because the top and bottom racks are washed separately. I do wish there were an option for a faster cycle — even at the cost of using more water. (By the way, this is something common to newer dishwashers).
